Chipolopolo Boys youngsters midfielder Gift Siame and defender David Hamansenya are grateful to have made their Chipolopolo debut.
Siame started in midfield in the 3-1 loss to Bafana Bafana while Hamansenya started at left back in the dramatic 3-2 loss to the Palancas Negras of Angola.
Siame says it’s an honor and privilege to finally start a match for the Chipolopolo Boys.
“Such an honor and privilege to make my debut with the senior national team. I’m super excited and delighted at the same time to represent my country at large. So I think I’m just looking forward to more game time and thank you so much for the opportunity which the coach gave me to represent my country,” Siame said.
“I am excited because like to make my debut in the starting 11 I was so much excited and I was happy and I was hoping to do more with the team and I help like the team to achieve they need to remain focused and we need to continue working extra hard and to encourage one another to push even more. I think we are not taking this opportunity for granted as young players, we just need to take the opportunity as it comes. “
“We just need to give our all and leave it to the technical which I think they are welcoming and they are helping us a lot in terms of confidence and to express ourselves in order like to put in our all they always encourage us to do more so I’m happy and excited like to have them as experienced players in our team they should continue supporting us and we’ll surely to bring the glory days to Mother Zambia,” he added.
Meanwhile Hamasenya says he is not taking the opportunity given to him by the technical bench for granted.
“Firstly, I would say I really appreciate the coach for giving me the opportunity to represent my country. For that, I really appreciate him. I’m not taking that moment for granted. It’s really special for me because it’s the first time I am representing my country with a senior national team so for that I really appreciate it,” he said.
“I would say it’s a dream come true because that’s the moment I’ve been waiting for. I was just waiting for my chance to give everything on the pitch. Just tell ourselves like us young players. We just tell ourselves that we just have to encourage one another and put in our best in each and every session.”
“We thank you for your support. We are not taking your support for granted. Despite the results, this is a preparation for the AFCON, so we are trying to build a team. I would say giving us young players the opportunity to showcase our talent,” he added.

Chipolopolo Boys striker Patson Daka scored the second goal as Leicester City beat Stoke City 2-1 in the English Championship.
Daka’s goal was his first goal of the year ending his eleven month goal drought.
Daka last scored in December 2024 in the Foxes 3-1 win over West Ham.
Leicester City made it  back-to-back wins in the Sky Bet Championship on Saturday with a gutsy 2-1 success over Stoke City at King Power Stadium.
Stephy Mavididi and Patson Daka – each netting first goals of 25/26 – broke through the second tier’s tightest defence in the first half to put Leicester City on course for victory.
Although Bae Jun-Ho halved the arrears for Mark Robins’ high-flying visitors, the Foxes showed real resolve to see out the win in pouring rain on Filbert Way.
The win takes Leicester City to 24 points after 16 games.

Mweene happy with what he has seen but more can be done

Chipolopolo Boys goalkeeper coach Kennedy Mweene says he is happy with what he has seen from the goalkeepers he worked with during the November FIFA International window.
Mweene however believes there is still a lot that can be done going forward and feels it will get even better as he continues to work with the goalkeepers.
Mweene says he is encouraged by what he saw with the goalkeepers he had in camp, Toaster Nsabata, Mangani Banda, Charles Kalumba and Francis Mwansa.
“Look, I think the first time they contacted me, I didn’t even hesitate, you know, because, you know, I really wanted to contribute one way or the other to the national team, especially when it comes to goalkeeping. And for me, I think my first impression when we got to Camp even though I did not have enough time. I think I had two training sessions with the boys,” he said.
“And I think from what I’ve seen, I’m okay. Yeah, I’m okay with it, with what I’ve seen. But we can do more. I think as days go by and as we meet again in camp, I think there’s a lot of aspects we need to work on as goalkeepers. So for me, I think it looks encouraging. And I’m happy with what I’ve seen with the keepers I was with here,” he added.
Mweene was recently appointed as the Chipolopolo Boys goalkeeper coach as part of the Moses Sichone led technical bench to carry on post the Avram Grant era.
Mweene was Chipolopolo Boys first choice goalkeeper  between 2004 and 2018 and made over 90 appearances and was also the man between the sticks when Zambia won its first and only Africa Cup of Nations crown.
