….last season’s top scorer returns after failing to lit up the Tanzanian league Zesco United have announced the signing of Freddy Micheal Koublan. The Ivorian striker joins the Ndola based side following an unsuccessful spell at USM Algiers in Algeria. Koublan returns to the Zambian Super League 11 months after his exploits at Green Eagles. He has penned a one year deal with the Ndola based outfit. “ZESCO United Football Club is thrilled to announce the signing of Ivorian International Striker Freddy Michael Kouablan on a one-year deal. Kouablan’s impressive record includes topping the 2023/24 MTN Super League scoring charts with 14 goals in 18 matches for Green Eagles, followed by an impressive 8-goal stint in 13 matches for Tanzanian giants Simba SC.” He was an instant hit for the Choma based side as he scored 14 goals in 16 matches. With that impact, Tanzanian giants Simba came calling and snapped up the former Girabola ace in January 2024. By the end of the season, Koublan was deemed not good enough, and shipped to North Africa. In recent years, the likes Chris Mugalu and Idriss Mbombo also failed to live up to expectation in Tanzania “I have a lot of work to do, and I believe we’ll achieve great things this season. As you know me, I’m a man for targets, and I’m here to deliver,” Freddy Michael said.

Zambia midfielder Obino Chisala has been unveiled by Sudanese giants Al Merriekh. Ther 25 year old has signed a two-and-a-half year contract with the Sudanese giants on a free transfer following the end of his contract at Mozambican side CD Costa do Sol. Chisala spent the last eighteen months at Mozambique’s most decorated Club Costa Do Sol where he became a dependable player. The 22 year old joined the 10 time Mozambican Champions in July 2023 as a free agent after mutually separating with the bankers. Chisala spent three years at Sunset Stadium after joining the Bankers in September, 2020 from Happy Hearts. On the international scene, the midfielder has been impressive since he made his debut in March in a friendly match against Malawi last year. Chisala was the standout players in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers. Although he featured as a left back in most of those games, Chisala also played as attacking midfielder in some matches. He has since won 7 caps for Zambia
Fashion Sakala jnr was on target for Al-Fayha in their 1-1 against Al-Ittihad in the Saudi Arabian Pro League match on Saturday. With the match headed for a goalless draw, the 27 year old put Al Fayha ahead in injury time. But his goal was cancelled out two minutes later as Yami equalised for the big spending Al lttihad. This was Sakala’s fifth goal of season in 14 appearances. The out of favour Zambian is one of Al Fayha’s top players alongside former Manchester United and Roma defender Chris Smalling. Al Fayha are currently 17th on the log while Al Ittihad are level on 37 points with Cristiano Ronaldo’s Al Hilal. Former Liverpool and Brazil midfielder Fabinho and Karim Benzema are on the books of Al Ittihad.
